Q. What is sentence ?

A group of words that gives a complete meaning / sens is called sentence.
(शब्दों का एैसा समूह जो एक पूर्ण अर्थ ब्यक्त करती है , वाक्य कहलाती हैं । )

Ex. (i)  I was playing.

             (ii) The Indian team are batting first.

*According to clause how many kinds are there of sentence ?

:-According to clause there are four kinds of sentence. 

(1). Simple sentence

(2). Compound sentence

(3). Complex sentence

(4). Compound and complex sentence or mixed sentence 

Q 1 . What is simple sentence ? 

:-  A sentence having a subject & a finite verb is called simple sentence .
(एैसा वाक्य जिसके पास एक कर्ता एवं एक सीमित क्रिया होती है , सामान्य वाक्य कहलाती है  । )

Ex.  (i) I am a student.

(ii) He wants to read.

(iii) He is going to play.

Q 2. What is compound sentence ?

:- when in any sentence two or more than two main clauses connected with a Coordinating conjunction then that sentence is called compound sentence.

( जब किसी वाक्य में दो या दो से अधिक मुख्य उपवाक्य समान पद वाले संयोजक से जुड़ता है ,  तब वह वाक्य compound sentence कहलाता हैं । )

Ex.  (i). Mohan will come still  I shall go .

(ii). He read but I go .

Q.3 what is Complex sentence ?

:- A sentence having one main clause and one or more than one subordinate clause makes the formation of complex sentence.
( जिस वाक्य में एक main clause और एक या एक से अधिक Subordinate clause हों , उसे complex sentence कहते हैं । )

Ex.  (a). I know that he is a good man.

  I know  - Main clause /  principal clause

  That he is a good man.  -  S.C 

 (b). When I asked him he told me that he would not help me.

        He told me                              - P.C

When I asked him                   -S.C 

That he would not help me.  -S.C

Q.4 what is compound complex sentence or mixed sentence.

:-  A sentence having two or more than two main clauses & one or more than one subordinate clause makes the formation of compound complex sentence.

( जिस वाक्य में दो या दो से अधिक main clauses तथा एक या एक से अधिक Subordinate clause हों , उसे mixed sentence या compound complex sentence कहतें हैं  । )

Ex.  (a).  When the baby was kidnapped her father was sleeping and the mother was cooking.

Her father was sleeping                                         -P.C 

The mother was cooking                                        -P.C
When the baby was kidnapped                            -S.C
